Does Colon Hydrotherapy reduce “Good Bacteria”?
Both “good” and “bad” bacteria will be washed out during the treatment. The Colonic treatment will wash out some of the good, friendly bacteria however many people have an intestinal flora imbalance due to years of improper eating, poor elimination, medication, and other factors. Good bacteria cannot survive well in a toxic environment, often creating a deficiency of good bacteria in people to begin with. Good bacteria breed best in a balanced environment, and a Colonic cleanse may actually improve their environment and increase their numbers. You also have an opportunity to shift the balance more towards “good” bacteria by supplementing a high-quality probiotic after your Colonic.

Will It be painful or embarrassing?
Some people may feel a slight cramping as the colon contracts with the gentle flow of water. Most people can feel the speculum, but it is not painful, especially once the flow of water begins moving through the speculum. Clients are fully clothed on the top, and provided with a pair of shorts for the bottom. The room is kept warm to ensure your comfort, and the procedure is discrete and respectful.
Why do I skip a bowel movement following a Colonic?
Most clients skip the next 24-48 hours of bowel movement. This DOES NOT mean the colonic made you constipated. When we empty the contents of the large intestine, you will discover a better understanding of your own transit time (the time it takes your body to move food through your digestive tract from consumption to evacuation). Pay attention to the foods you eat following a colonic, how your digestion feels, and try to track your bowel movement schedule. If you want to avoid a delayed transit time following a colonic, you can take magnesium, add aloe to your smoothie, take probiotics, and other supplements to encourage the next bowel movement in a more timely fashion.
Can I exercise afterwards?
Yes. Listen to your body. When you cleanse, some people will experience more energy while others may experience detox symptoms. Some can get a Colonic and go directly to a yoga class right after. If it’s your first Colonic, don’t plan anything too strenuous afterwards, see how you feel, and go from there.
How often should I get a Colonic?
The number of sessions can vary from person to person, depending on your goals and state of health, level of toxicity, etc. If you're new to Colonics, starting with a series of 3 or 4 sessions within the first two weeks of starting will yield best results. Combining these treatments with a cleanse or a liquid diet is also beneficial. Usually 3-10 colonic sessions in combination with supplements and dietary protocol can be most beneficial. Based on your initial consultation and your first session, we can offer suggestions that will support you to make the optimum choice. One session will not completely empty the colon, as it takes time to rehydrate and soften any dried and layered fecal matter until it is loosened enough to be released.

Depending on the condition of the colon, it can take between 3-10 treatments to achieve a thorough cleanse. Each person will differ depending on their condition and personal objectives.
